Year of the Pig kicks off in Australia’s incentive city

BESydney has celebrated the beginning of the 2019 Lunar New Year, welcoming the first of 17 Asian corporate incentive gatherings secured for Sydney over the year, attracting delegates from Japan, Indonesia, China, Korea and Singapore. The Tokyo Gas Yokohama Chuo Energy Japan 2019 Incentive is travelling to Sydney in three waves.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall congratulated BESydney and its partners on the achievement. “Spread across the year, the steady stream of global incentives – with even more to be announced in the months to come – will bring some 15,200 delegates to Australia and generate A$72 million direct expenditure into the New South Wales (NSW) economy,” he said.

“Closely watching market trends and listening to our clients’ needs and expectations has been our proven model for success,” said BESydney Regional Director – Asia, Sinead Yeo. “As tastes and attitudes evolve, clients are now seeking unique experiences that are built around their company’s ethos.

“BESydney’s track record delivering successful incentives over many years gives our clients’ peace of mind, and shows Sydney is a destination that can help them achieve their goals time and time again. They find Sydney is an easy place to do business. They trust us and our tourism industry partners to shape deeply immersive programs for their delegates with the right mix of motivational team activities, impressive gala dinners and authentic Australian cultural experiences.

“Corporations from the luxury beauty, motor dealership and insurance sectors are drawn firstly to Sydney’s natural landscapes and warm hospitality,” said Ms Yeo. “However, we work to better understand our client’s unique needs and create programs that are not only enjoyable, but also drive staff satisfaction and performance. This ensures we see repeat business from satisfied clients.”

Regional and outdoor activities are a drawcard for Asian incentives with delegates experiencing first hand Australia’s lush landscapes, blue skies and indigenous fauna and flora. BridgeClimb Sydney, sailing on Sydney Harbour, surfing at the world-famous Bondi Beach, hiking in the Blue Mountains and sand boarding in Port Stephens are some of the most popular choices – especially with more corporates targeting younger generations for their incentive programs.

Food is also one of the deciding factors when it comes to Asian corporates choosing Sydney. “We have such a huge variety of high quality restaurants serving up Asian and international cuisines that can satisfy Asian tastebuds,” said Ms Yeo. “Our fresh produce – dairy, fish, meat and vegetables – and Australia-made products are well known to these markets, so being able to experience them first hand is exciting.”
