IMARC marks another hugely successful year for Sydney and is set to return in 2027

Media Releases

Yesterday IMARC 2026 concluded at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), marking another hugely successful year for the International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo. The event is expected to have drawn an estimated 12,000 attendees from more than 120 countries.

Business Events Sydney has confirmed that it has secured IMARC for Sydney again in 2027. The conference will return to ICC Sydney from 12 to 14 October, delivering further benefits for New South Wales through direct expenditure, industry development, investment and collaboration.

This year's event alone is expected to have delivered an estimated $26 million in direct expenditure for NSW, with IMARC generating more than $100 million for the state’s economy since it moved to Sydney in 2022.

More than 7,500 delegates registered for IMARC 2026, including representatives from more than 50 governments. The multi-stream conference has explored responsible development, resilient projects and investment confidence, while an exhibition of more than 500 solution providers showcased technologies and services across the mining value chain. The wider International Mining Week program has included more than 30 sideline events around Sydney and more than 70 hours of networking opportunities.

Critical minerals supply chains are a strong focus at this year’s IMARC, in step with the priorities of both the NSW and Australian governments. Global demand continues for the key inputs required for clean energy, advanced manufacturing and defence technologies.

IMARC event director Paul Phelan said the event reinforced Sydney's position as a global meeting place for mining investment, innovation and international collaboration.

"Critical minerals have become a major priority for governments and investors worldwide and are central to NSW's economic future. By hosting IMARC, Sydney brings the global decision-makers shaping the industry's future directly to our doorstep, creating opportunities for Australian businesses to access international markets, investment and partnerships," Mr Phelan said.

"Over three days, we've brought together government leaders, mining companies, investors and technology providers from around the world, with a shared focus on turning strategies into projects and investment into commercial outcomes. The value of IMARC extends well beyond the conference itself, through the business relationships, investment opportunities and partnerships that develop here. We're delighted to be returning to Sydney in October 2027 and building on that momentum."

Business Events Sydney chief executive Amanda Lampe said: "IMARC's growth in Sydney shows what's possible when industry, government and the business events sector work together. “Beyond the economic boost for NSW, IMARC puts Sydney at the centre of global conversations on critical minerals, investment and the future of the resources sector,” Ms Lampe said.
