A number of exciting developments have reached completion, with some set to finish in 2026, reaffirming Sydney’s position as a modern, connected city built for global gatherings.
1. Sydney Fish Market
Set to open in early 2026, the reimagined Sydney Fish Market at Blackwattle Bay is nearly ready to welcome visitors for a truly unique culinary experience. With a $836 million investment, the market features fresh produce, retail, and dining vendors in an open-plan waterfront setting. Five permanent art installations situated around the markets will honour local First Nations histories, offering an enriching cultural experience for visitors. Sustainability has been at the forefront of the development, with over 400 solar panels and a 5 Star Green Star rating, supporting NSW’s net zero commitment by 2050. The venue will support 700 jobs and provide a vibrant location for networking and delegate experiences
2. The Cutaway, Barangaroo Reserve
The Cutaway at Barangaroo is a profound event space that has undergone a transformative design which will be open to the world in 2026. In consultation with First Nations architects and designers, the venue pays homage to First Nations culture through a series of thoughtfully engineered features and artistic designs, curating an educational journey from entry to the main event hall. The Cutaway will have a main event space and four smaller flexible spaces, as well as state-of-the-art catering facilities and accessible amenities, allowing flexibility to host conferences, corporate events, and more.
3. Powerhouse Parramatta
Opening soon in Western Sydney, Powerhouse Parramatta will be the largest museum in New South Wales, with 18,000 sqm of exhibition and public space. The precinct will showcase the impact of applied arts and sciences, featuring event spaces such as a 2,000 sqm rooftop garden, a 700-seat theatre, a cinema, and a culinary demonstration kitchen. Delegates can expect inspiring environments for learning, networking, and innovation.
4. Western Sydney International Airport
Western Sydney International Airport is on track to open in late 2026, unlocking a new global gateway to one of the country's fastest-growing regions. The airport is built to accommodate 10 million passengers annually from day one and operate 24/7, with transport links to the CBD currently in development. Named after aviation pioneer Nancy-Bird Walton, the airport will boost connectivity, support thousands of jobs, and make Western Sydney more accessible for international delegates.
5. Courtyard by Marriott Western Sydney Airport
Aligned with the new airport, the Courtyard by Marriott Western Sydney Airport will offer 200 rooms and 580 sqm of event space, opening in 2026. Direct airport access and modern meeting facilities make it a practical choice for business groups seeking efficient arrival and departure options, as well as comfortable accommodation for delegates.
6. Waldorf Astoria Sydney
Australia’s first Waldorf Astoria is under construction in Sydney’s Circular Quay, overlooking Sydney icons such as the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and the Sydney Harbour. Set to open in late 2026, the addition of Waldorf Astoria to Sydney’s vast collection of hotels elevates the city’s offering with stunning harbour views, ballrooms, boardrooms, and premium amenities. This hotel will cater to high-end events, VIP receptions, and gala dinners set against a world-renowned backdrop.
7. The Lands by Capella
Opening in early 2026, The Lands by Capella will transform a heritage sandstone building in Sydney’s CBD into 10,000 sqm of luxury retail, dining, and event spaces. With grand ballrooms and versatile meeting suites, it’s ideal for bespoke conferences and brand launches. Integration with Capella Sydney hotel ensures premium hospitality for delegates seeking a unique event experience.
8. Moxy (Sydney)
Moxy’s Sydney properties (including a new Pitt Street build and an airport Moxy) expand Sydney’s midscale, design-led hotel supply tailored for social, tech-savvy delegates. Moxy’s communal lobbies and flexible meeting nooks are ideal for breakout sessions, informal networking and evening activations that favour atmosphere as much as functionality. 9. Saltbox Venue
Saltbox Venue is Cook & Waiter’s flagship venue, situated in the vibrant Wunderlich Lane, and is now open.
